Description

Here at Classic Benz we are delighted to be able to offer for sale another very desirable W113 250 SL. This impressive little ‘Pagoda’ was carefully restored back in 2018 with a clear brief from its owner that, although it was to be finished to a really high standard, the car was going to be used on a regular basis, driven and enjoyed and if it rained, it rained.

It was fully stripped back to bare metal, metal work completed and painted in its original Signal Red (568), complemented by a new parchment leather interior with period-correct 250SL carpets.

A new soft-top frame was sourced at a substantial cost and covered by a carefully fitted new black soft-top roof all of which operate correctly. The hardtop is all correct and in very good order with the windows sealing nicely providing a dry, comfortable environment whatever the weather. 250 and 230SLs had a square-edged dashboard which has been retained alongside other period-correct dashboard features including the radio.

The mechanicals are very reliable and have been cared for and maintained on the basis that the car was going to be used and was not a museum piece, indeed the owner has enjoyed the car on long Cotswold trips and days out, confident in its reliability.

The car has been driven by me and I have inspected it carefully in order to offer peace of mind for its next custodian. It benefits from a recent oil change, fresh sparkplugs, a safety check and my recent test drive all offering reassurance. The extensive history file will take you a cup of coffee to look through and includes the invoices relating to the 2018 restoration, bills for recent work, the original service book with early dealer stamps, its handbook and spare keys for all locks etc. The only difference to standard 250SL is the hub caps which come from a later 280SL as the owner preferred the look of the one-piece caps.

Overall, this stunning little car would make an excellent entry into the world of Pagoda ownership where it can be enjoyed without the inevitable nervousness generated by driving a recently restored, shiny Concours car down a country lane.

Come along for a walk around and test drive when I can show you how to enjoy this timeless classic Mercedes for a sensible investment.
