1971 Mercedes-Benz 111 280 SE 3.5 CABRIOLET RHD

Bruce Greetham at Classic Benz as the duel in the crown of a Mercedes-Benz for sale. This is the mighty 111 280 SE RHD Cabriolet 3.5 the grandfather of the Mercedes range. This has been offered for sale from a very good client and Mercedes collector friend in Australia where he has owned this car for many years, won all the concours events in the high standards and been awarded the best in show and judges choice.  

The car featured here is the 3.5 116 V8 which produced 200 BHP which propelled the car in pure luxury to over 200 Km/h. With a no expense budget and a rival to Rolls Royce these Hand Built type 111 Mercedes 3.5 coupe/cabriolets fitted a powerplant more than 3.0 litres.

Being at the end of the W111 model the car featured a numerous cosmetic changes including the lower wider front grill, front and rear bumpers and rear light lenses. This model is extremely rare in Right Hand Drive with only 68 built cars in this configuration.

The car i have listed today is previously owned by a wealthy family in Hong Kong who acquired it in the 1970's from its original owners in the united Kingdom, which makes this a UK registered car from new.

They wished for it to go to a loyal and passionate Mercedes-Benz enthusiast with its current Australian Based custodian remaining close friends with its previous owners, who continue to communicate about the cars on going Journey.

These models are now becoming very expensive to restore and eye watering on parts that are genuine source only. When you find one this good it has to be an opportunity for a collector to sweep them up as in such low numbers only left now..  Find another.
