1983 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL R107, Automatic, RHD

Dating from 1983, this is a very presentable but entirely useable R107 280 SL powered by the venerable, 2.8-litre twin-cam M110 engine, that develops 182bhp yet is remarkably frugal and happy to sing away all day on those long European road trips. It’s beautifully presented in Champagne Metallic (730) with a matching hardtop, Dark Brown soft top (8023) and a classic interior in Palomino fabric (034). The car has been the subject of significant recent expenditure to bring it up to this lovely condition and would be welcome in any collection.

Factory-fitted Air Conditioning was not always optioned on the 280 Model, however, this car was imported from South Africa in 1999 where it would have been a necessity. The chromework is generally excellent including the rare ‘Hockey-stick’ chrome trims around the hardtop which are often damaged when the top is moved in storage. The alloy wheels present well and wear period Michelin MXV tyres which are virtually brand new including the spare.

For the last six years it has been kept in a warm, heated garage but is regularly used and enjoyed. The current indicated mileage is 62,634 miles, supported by a documented history and many recent bills covering paint work, bushes, seals, fluids etc. It’s supplied with its book pack and both keys, and the jack and spare wheel are all present and correct.
