Description

Here at Classic Benz, I am delighted to offer this fabulous R107 300 SL, a car I have known for a few years.

It presents really well in Impala Brown Metallic (441), a really stylish hue, complemented by a matching hardtop and brown soft top, over a classic R107 interior  in bomb-proof Grey MB-Tex with carpets to match.

The current owner purchased the car back in 2019 from a long-term owner prior to her. She was impressed by its fabulous colour, sensible mileage, and super condition but also by its confidence-inspiring service history which totals 23 stamps in the book, well two books actually. One of the best history files I have seen with the current mileage of 72,000 supported by the service record and the MOT history. The current MOT is valid until July 2025.

The coach work is immaculate from top to bottom showing no signs of rust including the bulkhead, which can evidence corrosion issues, but not on this car. It shines because the owner polishes it herself and stores it away in a heated garage under the dust cover. It shows she cares.

The carpets, seats, dashboard and fittings are beautifully presented and everything works as expected in a R107.

The engine bay is pleasingly original and still displays some factory fitted decals which is always a good sign. The engine starts well and runs smoothly, everything works and works well, no rattles, smoke or untoward noises. These 103-series engines display legendary reliability if regularly serviced and, given this car’s remarkable service history, it should go on forever. A recent handmade stainless exhaust has been fitted and still retains the right tone.

The boot compartment is carpeted in black with an untouched tool roll with a full complement of tools, its original jack, and the rubber mounting cup still has the hidden data card showing.

The brown soft-top rises and drops like a comfortable glove without any force and presents well with no issues to the fabric or plastic windows. The alloy wheels show a few light marks but appear sound and are shod with healthy tyres front to back including the spare.

I road tested the car myself and it drives really well. The brakes pull up square with confidence, the auto gearbox glides up and down with ease and the whole car just feels right.

This is a very presentable, useable and affordable R107 300 SL in an attractive colour combination that really stands out from the more conservative Blues and Silvers.

Come and see for yourself, if you know these cars, then you’ll know what I mean.
