This beautifully presented 300 SL dates from the last six months of production in 1989, a period when orders for the outgoing models were taken up very quickly by wealthy owners. It’s obviously been very well cared for by its former keepers having been cossetted in heated garages, possibly better than the attached houses.
Having owned an SL in the past, this car’s third owner purchased it from a Pacific Airline pilot in London in 2016 and decided he rather fancied taking the car on a ‘Concours journey’. The following eight years were dedicated to spending time in his garage bringing this stunning SL up to a Concours d’Elegance standard whilst maintaining originality, rewarded by a well-deserved win in 2023. However, the Mercedes was not allowed to rest on its laurels and has been enjoyed on a number of road trips, when possible, on dry sunny days.
The condition of this 300 SL is simply outstanding and it remains delightfully original including the soft top. The hard top has spent its life on a stand to protect it and ensure that the soft top does not get creased. It has covered just over 32,000 miles, a good driver’s mileage, not too low to worry about putting miles on the car and not too high to be regarded as a ‘high-mileage ’ example.
It’s accompanied by a very well-documented service history with a thick binder covering all receipts, bills, show events, and of course the ownership history. It’s also supplied with the dealer book pack, spare keys including valet and master key, both roof removal tools, its original tool kit (which may never have been unraveled), the untouched spare wheel, mounting card instructions, and mounting peg.
The Car sits in my Showroom and is just a pleasure to be around and enjoy with customers. Please make an appointment and I would be delighted to show you around this quite exceptional R107 300 SL.
